Building A Recovery Culture and Skills

This programme is designed for the entire staff of the mental health organisation. The purpose of this training is to maintain and reinforce a recovery culture within the organisation, by putting the responsibility to reinforce the recovery skills and culture directly in the hands of team members.

This 2-day training will support you to work with individuals who face a variety of challenges in an engaging and hopeful manner. You will learn a variety of specific skills that will support increased hope among the people you serve. 

Additionally, this training will focus on building trusting relationships with your clients, as well as elsewhere in your life, and will expand your understanding of communication using the Empowerment Model. 

One of the most important tools in human services is to be fully present with the people you serve. This training will refocus your self-belief, and develop your person-centred skills, and relationship-building skills. We will provide you with tools that have real world application, which you can utilise immediately to transform the outcomes of your services.

This training is learning centred and requires the participant to actually apply the skills during the workshop. 

This is a 2-day training with a maximum of 30 participants.

Who should attend

This training is for team members who may be new to recovery and peer support roles, and is designed to give them an understanding of the concepts, and provide them with the skills to enable them to be more effective in their roles. 

The training is not ‘sector specific’ so has equal application in mental health, disability, justice or wider social service roles.

About the Presenter

Speaker Gloria Whyte

“When people experience trauma or severe life stresses, it is not uncommon for lives to unravel. My lived experience and great passion is to get people who have been through a traumatic or stressful experience, to look at healing from a safe space. I hold the hope that re-training people through educative means will help to strengthen and reinforce those skills that they already own, for work and lifestyle.

I am certain that this training will help many find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships, so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe. I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so I have been trained in a range of modalities including Relational Gestalt Therapy, Gestalt Play Therapy, Peer Support, Recovery Coaching, Ethics, Trauma, Person Centered, Cultural Safety, Suicide, Work Ready through the Peer Employment Training."

What happens if you have to cancel?

We know that sometimes your plans can change for many different reasons. Should you be unable to attend, a substitute delegate is welcome to attend at no extra cost. If a substitute delegate is not available and you need to cancel your registration, please be aware of the following:

  • Up to 7 days prior to the workshop, you will be provided a refund of your registration cost, less a $50.00 plus GST service charge.
  • If you cancel within 7 days of the workshop, you are not eligible to receive a refund. Please note: should your registration not be paid by the time of the event, you are still liable to make the payment. Unpaid accounts may be passed over to our debt collection agency and additional costs may be incurred.

All cancellations must be received in writing (email). You will be sent the workshop materials upon request.

Delegates are responsible for their own travel/accommodation bookings and no compensation will be made should the event be rescheduled or cancelled.

Please note: GROW Ltd reserves the right to make any amendments that we may deem to be in the best interest of the workshop – it is however very unlikely and we will notify you as soon as possible should this occur.
