Gloria Whyte

“When people experience trauma or severe life stresses, it is not uncommon for lives to unravel. My lived experience and great passion is to get people who have been through a traumatic or stressful experience, to look at healing from a safe space. I hold the hope that re-training people through educative means will help to strengthen and reinforce those skills that they already own, for work and life style.

I am certain that these training's will help many find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships, so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe. I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so I have been trained in a range of modalities including Relational Gestalt Therapy, Gestalt Play Therapy, Peer Support, Recovery Coaching, Ethics, Trauma, Person Centered, Cultural Safety, Suicide, Work Ready through the Peer Employment Training. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Social Science in Maori Counseling, and a Recovery Educator for R.I. International. Hope came when I
completed the Peer Employment Training Course. I grew up in the Hokianga, a rural area in the Far North (where fitting in was very difficult). I was born into a whanau (family) of nine siblings. I married and had three boys of my own, and now have grandchildren that I adore. I spent ten years working in a beautiful rural school, serving on Boards of Trustees and as assistant teacher, both in an aide position and as the teacher. I was able to chair the Board of Trustees in an Audit, and it was rated as one of the highest audits the school had ever achieved and passed.

After moving my whanau back to Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland), to give my tamariki (children) experience of city life; they were growing and needed work experience. I nursed my father till he passed away and was also working as a caregiver for the elderly both in home-care and rest homes.
I ensure whanau and well-being is first and foremost. I see working and wellness as beautiful challenges to enjoy, and say "Yes I can do anything", and ITE= I am The Evidence.

I graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor's degree and continue to stay current in various areas of Mental Health in New Zealand."
