Within the CAMS Framework, the patient and the clinician identify the drivers that make the person want to kill himself/herself and then they treat these drivers using various techniques like DBT, CBT, mindfulness etc. CAMS is proven in as few as 6 sessions to reduce suicidal ideation, distress and hopelessness and increase hope. Once suicide is off the table as an option, the person can be treated for other conditions or can be referred to social services and other agencies to provide wrap-around supports. The CAMS evidence based treatment is suitable for those who are trained in behavioural health and a variety of modalities.
CAMS is an evidence based, suicide-focused treatment framework backed by 30 years of clinical research and 5 randomized controlled trials. The CAMS Framework® focuses on treating “drivers” that make someone want to die – because we believe that everyone deserves a life worth living!
CAMS is designed to be a cost-effective outpatient treatment that may be used to avert expensive inpatient hospital stays while safely treating suicidal risk outside a hospital setting. Research studies have shown that CAMS can significantly reduce visits to Emergency Departments improving the service users experience and creating additional healthcare cost savings. In contrast to other suicide-focused interventions, CAMS is remarkably easy to learn.
You have the opportunity to become CAMS Trained in an evidence-based suicide treatment protocol that has been proven effective in multiple randomized controlled trials to reduce suicidal ideation and increase hope in as few as 6 sessions.
Developed by Dr. Jobes over decades of clinical trial research, there is very little that compares to CAMS in terms of its robust evidence-base, its flexibility, and the relative ease of learning to use it with fidelity.
The CAMS training model provides a spectrum of experiences that optimizes the learner’s understanding of how to use CAMS adherently within clinical practice across different treatment settings and clinical populations. Implementation and dissemination science has clearly shown that an integrative approach to training that uses several modalities for learning improves clinicians’ learning and adaptation of new skills. Our integrative training model enables most clinicians to become adherent to this evidence-based approach with their first CAMS patient and clinicians frequently report our training model provides them with the confidence and clarity to use CAMS effectively with patients.

Become CAMS TRAINED takes just 10 hours of course work, all available online, and 4 hours of calls when working with patients. It involves completing 3 elements:
1. CAMS Foundational Video Course
The training combines didactic presentations by Dr. Jobes as he introduces an unscripted clinical demonstration of the use of CAMS with a patient through the course of 12 sessions of the CAMS Framework. Pass the free test.

2. Online Role-Play Training Day
Designed to enhance knowledge of the CAMS Framework while providing an opportunity to practice completing the Suicide Status Form with other mental health professionals learning the model.

3. CAMS Consultation Calls
Attend 4 Consultation Calls after you are using CAMS with patients. The calls give you a forum to discuss cases, best practices and have your questions answered by an experienced CAMS Consultant.

About the presenter
Jennifer Crumlish, Ph.D.
Dr. Jennifer Crumlish received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at The Catholic University of America in 1996. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at St. Elizabeths in Washington, D.C., which included rotations on the inpatient geriatric psychiatry ward, and outpatient community mental health centers. Dr. Crumlish is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
Her interest in research began while working in the Biological Psychiatry Branch in the NIMH at NIH during graduate school. Currently Dr. Crumlish is the Assistant Director of the Suicide Prevention Lab at the Catholic University of America. She has taught courses in the graduate psychology program at Catholic University in psychopathology, diagnostic assessment and supervised students in the psychotherapy practicum. For many years, Dr. Crumlish has been a consultant to the D.C. Office of Aging and Community Life Adult Protective Services division and conducts capacity evaluations of adults throughout the city. Prior to joining WPC in 2002, Dr. Crumlish was a staff psychologist at the Kingsbury Center where she conducted psychological assessments of school-aged children and adolescents and provided individual and group psychotherapy to students attending the Kingsbury School.
Online Role-Play Training Day will be delivered over 1 day, the follow up CAMS Consultation Calls will be scheduled AFTER completion of the Training Day, and are included in your registration

We work hard to ensure that all workshops are cost effective by automating our systems. If you require an invoice (rather than paying by debit or credit card) there will be a $25.00 inc GST surcharge for this, and you will need to supply:
- The full name and postal address required to appear on the invoice.
- The contact name and email of the person(s) responsible for authorising this expense and approving payment.
- Any purchase order references required on vendor invoices.

What happens if you have to cancel?
We know that sometimes your plans can change for many different reasons. Should you be unable to attend, a substitute delegate is welcome to attend at no extra cost. If a substitute delegate is not available and you need to cancel your registration, please be aware of the following:
Up to 7 days prior to the event you will be provided a refund of your registration cost, less a $20.00 inc GST per attendee service charge
If you cancel within 7 days of the event, you are not eligible to receive a refund. Please note: should your registration not be paid by the time of the event, you are still liable to make the payment. Unpaid accounts may be passed over to our debt collection agency and additional costs may be incurred.
All cancellations must be received in writing (email).
Training is cancellable by GROW with 3 days’ notice if a minimum number of attendees is not met and full refunds will be provided.
