Alison Mau

Alison (Ali) Mau is a broadcaster, journalist and author with 35 years experience in television, radio and print news and current affairs, starting out aged just 18 for the Warracknabeal Herald in Victoria, Australia.

Following a brief stint in London she then moved to NZ and was employed by TVNZ. Her first television appearance was on the business-related current affairs show Made in New Zealand, and later presented late night current affairs programs Eyewitness and Newsnight. 

Ali has worked as a television news anchor and co-host of the TVNZ current affairs Seven Sharp. She is former co-presenter of the consumer affairs show Fair Go, former co-host of TVNZ Breakfast programme and former talkback radio host on RadioLIVE

She writes for the Sunday Star Times weekend newspaper and Stuff.co.nz and in February 2018 launched the national #metooNZ project with Stuff, leading a team investigating sexual harassment in New Zealand workplaces.

In November 2018, Ali was awarded the Fairfax Women of Influence Award for Leadership Excellence at a ceremony in Sydney, Australia. The awards celebrate those who have made a real difference in their communities, locally and nationally.
