This workshop clarifies the 'what', and focuses on the 'how'

Are you interested in learning more about how to support your own resilience and well-being as well as those of your clients? Then this workshop is for you!

The workshop offers a practical experience of turning resilience-, adaptive coping- and well-being theory into practice.

You will learn more about these theories and use three practical tools that utilise resource mapping, coping identification and well-being planning to promote a process of participation, reflection and action. These tools guide information gathering and intervention planning on an individual- and systemic level. 

As an added bonus, they can also be used for personal self-care to help you support yourself in a demanding career.

Throughout the workshop, you will get the opportunity to try the tools for yourself and share ideas on how it could be useful in your personal and professional life.

Selah Well

Marlize registered as an educational psychologist in 2011. Her career started in private practice after which she joined the Department of Educational Psychology, University of Pretoria, South Africa. During her seven years at the university, she enjoyed various roles including co-management of the educational psychology training facility, practical training of post-graduate students, case-management, supervision and teaching several under-and postgraduate modules.  

Marlize completed her PhD in 2015 titled “Indigenous Pathways to Adaptive Coping in Rural Communities” which formed part of the Indigenous Pathways to Resilience Research Project. It was her PhD study that sparked her interest in resilience processes and well-being.

After immigrating to New Zealand in 2019, Marlize worked at the Ministry of Education which rekindled her interest in exploring well-being focused practices that could uphold collaboration, emphasise strengths and nurture resilience on an individual and systemic level. It was during this time that Marlize became compassionate about the well-being of caring professionals which has motivated her to design workshops aimed at sharing tools and ideas around strengthening oneself in the context of a demanding career whilst advocating for positively focused professional practices.

After completing the workshop you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of core concepts including resilience, adaptive coping and well-being
  • Demonstrate understanding of how to practice in a resilience-based manner that focuses on strengths and well-being
  • Use the following tools for personal (self-care) or professional (information gathering and intervention planning) reasons:
    • Resource mapping
    • Coping identification
    • Well-being planning

This is an interactive workshop with breakout room activities and we therefore ask all participants to have their own computer / laptop as this enhances the learning for all.

This webinar series will NOT be recorded.

Standard: $250 incl GST, per person

Registration process
Payment online is by debit or credit card (VISA, Mastercard or American Express) only and there are 3 easy steps to complete the online booking process.  
Our registration platform is hosted by Lil Regie, our NZ based booking agent. Upon completing your registration by hitting the blue 'Confirm Booking' button, you will receive an automated email confirming the booking and amount paid by credit card. A GST Tax Invoice showing your payment in full will also be emailed to you.

We work hard to ensure that all workshops are cost effective by automating our systems. If you require an invoice (rather than paying by credit card) there will be a $25 surcharge for this, and you will need to supply:

  • The full name and postal address required to appear on the invoice.
  • The contact name and email of the person(s) responsible for authorising this expense and approving payment.
  • Any purchase order references required on vendor invoices.

What happens if you have to cancel?
We know that sometimes your plans can change for many different reasons. Should you be unable to attend, a substitute delegate is welcome to attend at no extra cost. If a substitute delegate is not available and you need to cancel your registration, please be aware of the following:
Up to 7 days prior to the event you will be provided a refund of your registration cost, less a $20.00 inc GST per attendee service charge.
If you cancel within 7 days of the event, you are not eligible to receive a refund. Please note: should your registration not be paid by the time of the event, you are still liable to make the payment. Unpaid accounts may be passed over to our debt collection agency and additional costs may be incurred. 
All cancellations must be received in writing (email). 
Training is cancellable by GROW with 3 days’ notice if a minimum number of attendees is not met and full refunds will be provided.
Please note: GROW Ltd reserves the right to make any amendments that we may deem to be in the best interest of the workshop – it is however very unlikely and we will notify you as soon as possible should this occur.
