Relational Intelligence For The Workplace
Relational Intelligence For The Workplace

Wednesday 28 October, 9am - 10.30am

90 minute online workshop with Serafin Upton

Serafin Upton is a Relationship Therapist and Coach with 20 years of experience.  She provides psychotherapy and coaching to individuals, couples, and organisations.   Her work aims to improve relationships and increase relational intelligence in a fun, engaging, welcoming, & brave space.

Do you have trouble saying no at work or home?
Do people take advantage of you at work or at home?
Are you burned out from always saying yes at work or home?
Are you unsure what is ok to expect and ask for in your relationships at work or home?
Do you wonder if you'll still be a kind, fair, or generous person if you set limits?

If you're looking to improve your relationships at home or work, these relational intelligence workshops can help you.

Relational intelligence may be the final frontier of the workplace.  As children, we are asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" We are not asked, "who do you want to work with when you grow up?" - despite the well-known fact that people don't leave bad jobs, they leave bad bosses.  Many of us spend more time with our colleagues than we do our own families.  When we apply for jobs, we get a job ad and job description full of tasks - it tells us nothing about the people we will work with.  Job interviews don't usually make us any wiser about who we will be working with either!

This Relational Intelligence workshop covers the following themes:

  • Should our colleagues be our friends?
  • Why are you so attached to your manager?
  • How might slow-hire approaches help build flourishing teams?
  • How might we eliminate interview blind spots?

Key takeaways:

  • How relational intelligence is the future of the workplace
  • How a slow hire approach can prevent relational problems in the workplace
  • How we bring our own family of origin to work without realising it

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is aimed at all company employees, human resources specialists, managers and team leaders and also senior leadership teams

About Serafin Upton

Serafin has worked in New Zealand and Australia as a family and couples therapist and coach for 20 years.  On top of her extensive experience and qualifications, she has also trained under world-renowned relationship therapists Esther Perel and Terry Real – the only NZ-based therapist to have completed their training.  Her relational intelligence approach differs dramatically from other leadership training and conflict management training in Australasia.

Serafin uses Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT), which is like Airbnb for coaching and therapy.  FIT means you and your partner or team make gains faster, spend less money, and get results sooner because training, therapy, and coaching should be a good time, not a long time.  FIT gives clients and Serafin instant feedback about whether what we're doing is working and whether we should keep at it or try something different.  Only 3% of therapists in Australasia use FIT, and she is proud to be one.
