Unlock the Power of De-Escalation:
A Compassionate Approach to Conflict Resolution

With Dr Suzanne Henwood
Via Zoom - Wednesday, 27 May 2026

Workshops run 9 am - 1 pm

If you are waiting on funding approval - we strongly recommend you contact us to pencil book a place.

Powerful yet compassionate effective tools and techniques that can be used immediately in multiple settings.

Conflict and escalation are natural in human interactions —whether in teams, leadership, customer/client interactions, or high-stress environments. It is inevitable that at some point emotions will be triggered, past events tapped into, and our natural neural wiring to fight or flight will kick in. We are wired to focus on our safety.

The skill then is learning how to manage that effectively and compassionately when it does happen, with a focus on understanding, care, compassion while maintaining the mana and respect of all concerned.

Presented by Dr Suzanne Henwood, join us for a transformative four-hour online workshop where you will learn the art of de-escalation with compassion.

Bringing over 20 years of expertise in Integrated, Systemic and Embodied Coaching including: Polyvagal Informed Therapy; NLP (Suzanne is a Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming);  Multiple Intelligence Coaching (bwise); Emotional Culture Deck; breathwork; and mindfulness, and her extensive experience in Therapeutic Coaching (including Trauma Informed Coaching and Solution Focused Brief Therapy for severe stress and anxiety). This training draws on the research base around de-escalation and weaves in these modalities, providing easy-to-implement, practical tied and tested de-escalation skills that can be applied in any situation.

Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of de-escalation techniques and enhance your ability to connect with others in challenging situations.

De-escalation is not simply reducing tension; it is a strategic interruption of emotional escalation that opens space for constructive engagement, psychological safety, and cooperative problem solving. Great skills preserve relationships, and uphold safety, mana and cooperation, leading to effective resolution, minimizing the risk of critical incidents.

In this interactive session, you will:

  • Enhance Your Skills: Learn practical techniques to effectively reduce conflict and create a safe environment for all involved.

  • Enhance your Understanding: Learn about nervous system wiring and regulation that create a foundation of safety in practice.

  • Understand Human Behaviour: Discover the importance of recognizing individual differences and how to adapt your approach to suit the specific situations that arise.

  • Enhance Self Awareness: Explore how you as a professional impact on situations through your own approach, emotions, narrative, values and beliefs and get real about how to ‘show up’ for others to reduce the risk of conflicts escalating.

  • Build Connections: Engage in meaningful discussions that validate voices and experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding.

  • Prioritize Self-Care: Understand the significance of self-awareness and self-regulation in maintaining your well-being and safety while supporting others.

Why De-Escalation Matters
In today's world, the ability to de-escalate potentially volatile situations is crucial for ensuring safety and well-being for staff / professionals and service users. This workshop emphasizes the importance of collaborative, compassionate resolution, equipping you with a suite of tools to navigate challenging interactions with grace and empathy.

“Compassion is a blend of empathy and reason. When we practice compassion, we will have more strength, peace, and joy and this will transfer to everyone with whom we associate.”
The Dalai Lama
